Grain company Viterra’s feed division has closed a deal to buy V-S Feed and Agri-Supplies of Ponoka, Alta.

The deal, for an undisclosed sum, includes a feed premix mill with annual capacity of about 8,000 tonnes per year, the Regina grain company said in a release Monday.

The deal also includes a retail outlet, which sells both feed and farm supply products, the company said.

V-S Feed is “ideally located between Olds and Edmonton, and central to a significant number of dairy and beef operations which are key to the pre-mix business,” Viterra noted in the release.

V-S Feed makes, sells and distributes supplements and pre-mixes from its Ponoka mill and retail outlet, offering both bag and bulk custom rations, Viterra said.

Viterra, overall, makes and sells about 1,542,000 tonnes of feed and ingredients to livestock, poultry, and dairy customers through Unifeed in Canada and Hi-Pro Feeds in the U.S.
